Karl Schlögel: Borderland Europe („Grenzland Europa“)

„There is a Europe that is intact and functioning, but that does not appear in the entire discourse around the crisis.” That is the argument that the renowned professor and expert on Eastern Europe Karl Schlögel makes in his opening statement for the literature festival in September 2012 in Berlin. Now this text is being published – together with other interesting accounts of the author – in „Grenzland Europa – Unterwegs auf einem neuen Kontinent“ (Borderland Europe – Discovering a new continent). It offers fascinating insights into the views of a scholar who concerns himself with – among others – the theme of “New Narratives for Europe” and deals with “the limits of the narration of history.” An inspriring book worth reading.
