Begegnungschor - Berliner singen mit Geflüchteten

Called the “Begegnungschor” - roughly translated as the “getting-to-meet-you” choir meanwhile has become kind of a big big international musical family. Since two years 50 to 80 Berliners and refugees are singing every Wednesday songs from each other’s traditions, working hard to learn both the language and style of unfamiliar music as an opportunity to overcome the isolation and prejudice the refugees face every day. The Begegnungschor has already appeared in public many times as for instance at the German Choir Festival in Stuttgart and during the chor.com in Dortmund. "Let's sing not hate" might be the slogan of this very special choir discovering the power of communicating, and of understanding one another, through music.
The Begegnungschor unifies people of different cultures. It was founded as a musical initiative at the so called refugee crisis to be a place where berliners and refugees can get to know each other, give helping hands and live musical experiences together.
